CE Marking — EU Product Conformity
CE marking is a declaration by the manufacturer that a product meets every applicable EU requirement — which usually means several directives and regulations at once, such as EMC, Low Voltage, Radio Equipment, Machinery or Medical Devices, alongside RoHS. The mark itself is the end of the process, not the substance of it: what stands behind it is a technical file, a conformity assessment appropriate to the product's risk class, and a signed EU Declaration of Conformity. Market surveillance authorities ask for the file, not the sticker.
What it obliges you to do
- Identify every directive and regulation applicable to the product
- Complete the conformity assessment route each one requires
- Compile and retain the technical file, typically for ten years
- Issue and sign an EU Declaration of Conformity naming each instrument

No machine-readable feed reaches CE Marking yet. We ingest the US Federal Register and legislation.gov.uk; neither carries instruments under this name, and the EU publishers that would — ECHA, EUR-Lex, the Commission — refuse automated requests. The primary sources above are the record to watch. This is a gap in available feeds, not an indication that nothing is changing.
Does CE Marking actually apply to your products?
Scope is the part a summary cannot answer. Send us your product families and target markets and a steward will tell you which obligations attach, what evidence you would need, and what is already covered by declarations you hold.
- A written read on whether CE Marking applies to your range
- The evidence gaps that would surface in an audit
- No obligation, and no sales sequence attached

Requirements change, and scope depends on your product, your role in the supply chain and your markets.
